SUBJECT: Vines Band Booster Club Newsletter - Week of July 25

Welcome Back Band Families!

Families - 

Summer is already coming to a close which is unbelievable! But it also means we will start hearing the sounds of bands playing throughout Plano as they start prepping for marching season.

We wanted to reiterate the info in Mr. Cao's email that was sent yesterday:

- PARENT MEETING on Sunday (7/27) CANCELLED

- Change of venue for afternoon practice for Pre-Season Band - Afternoons (1-3:30) will be at Wilson Middle School

- Please read email here for all the details (we are still working on the current email lists so let us know if you did not receive the email from Mr. Cao!)

Also, there is some booster news below that we would love for you to read about! We hope to send this type of newsletter weekly or biweekly throughout the year to keep you in the know about all Booster Club happenings and not inundate you with a million individual emails! So please take time to read these Booster newsletters as well as all emails directly from Mr. Cao and Mr. Martin.

Uniform Fitting Day: Saturday, August 2nd

Join us on Saturday, August 2nd as students will be fitted for their marching band uniform, pick up any pre-ordered items, get their photos taken, and have the opportunity to purchase Vines Band spirit wear and merchandise (limited quantity). 

Students are asked to: 

  • Bring a pair of black socks that will be placed in the garment bag with their marching band uniform; 
  • Wear athletic shorts, a t-shirt, and socks to ensure the best fitting 

Uniform Fitting Day will take place from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM at Vines, but students will be notified closer to the date on their assigned timeslot for their fitting. 

Following the release of the schedule, if the assigned time does not work for your student, please email Uniform Chair, Emily Lyman at auntieemy82@gmail.com

Volunteers still needed...

We have over 500 volunteer slots open this year for a variety of roles, including:

  • Uniform Fitting Day (Aug 2)
  • Pool Party (Aug)
  • Summer Band Popsicles (various times, during summer band camp)
  • Game Day Meal, Chaperones, and Equipment Movers (6 events)
  • Band Competition Meals, Chaperones, and Equipment Movers (2 events)
  • Photographers and Videographers (any events/football games)
  • UIL Room Monitors (Nov)
  • Plano Holiday Parade Chaperones (Dec)

And that's just the first semester!

I encourage you to log in to the Vines Band Membership Toolkit (MTK) and click on VOLUNTEER once you are logged in. Please consider volunteer roles that you can do. It is so fun to be on the sidelines celebrating with the band. Don't miss out.

And most importantly, please submit your VOLY form so that Plano ISD can do your background check and get you ready to volunteer. https://plano.voly.org/

When you do get that approval from Voly, please send the approval email or screen shot to beckydearing@yahoo.com. Please include your name as it appears on your driver's license as well!
